Grief and Loss Awareness Week (25th - 31st July 2016)
27th July. Dreams and the Grieving Process at Birkenhead Library.  Presented by Margaret Bowater.
29th July. Evening - Light a Candle to Remember.  Take some time to remember someone or something important to you, by lighting a candle on Friday Night. This remembrance can be alone or with others. You can share your remembrance with others by sending a photo of your lit candle to our Facebook page and let us know who or what you are remembering.
31st July. Yoga Fundraiser - Albany Yoga Room. 36 William Pickering Drive. 11.30 - 12.30.  Yoga enthusiasts and total beginners alike, are invited to join us in our Yoga Fundraiser, to help raise awareness of Loss and Grief within our community and to offer those who are suffering support and hope.

September 2015

12th - 13th September. Unpacking Your Griefcase Workshop. Highbury House, Birkenhead.  A weekend workshop by Jeanette Shearer, sharing a holistic approach to moving ahead after grief, loss or shock. Costs $295 (or early bird special $245 if you book before 31st Aug). Email info@jeanetteshearer.com to book your place.

August 2015

2nd August. Yoga Fundraiser - Albany Yoga Room. 36 William Pickering Drive. 2.30 - 4.00.  Yoga enthusiasts and total beginners alike, are invited to join us in our first Yoga Fundraiser, to help raise awareness of Loss and Grief within our community and to offer those who are suffering support and hope.

The Yoga Fundraiser will incorporate gentle yoga, breathe work and mindfulness meditation
. Costs $15 with all proceeds going to The Grief Centre. Please book your yoga mat here or you can turn up on the day.

10th August. Senior Citizens (60yrs+) Bereavement Support Group - Birkenhead.  An eight week support group designed for Seniors starting Monday 10th August. Costs $5 per week. Please email your interest here.

July 2015

31st July. Depression Made Simple Workshop.  A 1.5hr interactive workshop. Presented in a down to earth, humorous approach, Monique Knight from the Tui Centre will help us all better understand the mechanisms that cause depression and what we can do about it. Developed for Professionals and Clients alike. Registration is essential.

November 2014
7-8 November. Creative ways to explore Grief and loss, conducted by Josie Scott at Baylys Beach, Northland. Find out more here.

7 November. Living and Dying: An enquiry into the Human experience of Death. This workshop is led by Led by Stephen Archer and Hilary Lovelace. It aims to open the door of awareness to the universal reality of death and assist you to approach this reality in a more empowered way. The workshop will be held from 10am-5pm in Auckland. Please see the attached flyer for further information.

18 November.  Managing Grief at Holiday Times. A workshop facilitated by Mallika Krishnamurthy from The Grief Centre.  12-1.30 pm at The Grief Centre.  Click here for further information.

23 November.  Solace Support Group.  Annual Candle Lighting Ceremony remembering those lost to suicide. 4.45 pm for a 5 pm start.  St Columba Church, 92 Surrey Cres, Grey Lynn.  Find out more here.


25 November.  Grief and Trauma--A Holistic Approach.  A seminar presented by Jeanette Shearer, a holistic therapist.  Useful for those who have experienced trauma and those who are supporting or working with them.  10am-11.30 am, at The Grief Centre.  Further details can be found here.

27 November.  Perinatal and Infant Loss--an introduction. Presented by Vicki Culling for SANDS Auckland Central. Topics covered include approaches to grief; practicalities and legalities of perinatal loss; feedback from bereaved parents; cultural safety.  Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre, Mt Wellington. 9-4.30 pm.  For registration and further information, click here.

28 November.  Holding on and Letting Go--Supporting Parents Facing an Unexpected Diagnosis in Pregnancy.  Presented by Vicki Culling for SANDS Auckland Central.  Topics covered include reflecting on our own beliefs; holding on--continuing the pregnancy; letting go-terminating the pregnancy; supporting parents in making a decision.
