We're here to help

At the Grief Centre, we provide support, advice & counselling

to help those affected by grief and loss

The death of a loved one shifts the whole foundation of our life. Nothing is as it was. Even what was most familiar, seems in a strange way unfamiliar. It is as though we have to learn a new language, a new way of being. Even the face in the mirror sometimes seems the face of a stranger.

The Grief Centre

The Grief Support and Education Charitable Trust (Grief Centre) is a Registered Charity established in 2009 to assist and support those affected by grief and loss.

Grief and loss are issues facing many in our communities. Until now little has been available to truly help those needing assistance.

Do you or someone you know need support to help you through this difficult time?

The experience of grief brings people into often unfamiliar territory. Normal events may now bring social, emotional or spiritual challenges.

People may find themselves wondering how it is that:

  • Emotional responses vary so widely among family members
  • Tried and true ways of working through the difficulties that are part of all relationships often need new approaches.

When grieving:
  • Maintaining a sense of self and where you belong in the world can be a daily struggle in your changed world.
  • Previous experiences of loss or grief may be felt with a renewed intensity.
  • Personal beliefs, aspects of faith and spiritual resources may be challenged, or become more important and real.
  • You may feel tired and despondent and find coping and communicating with friends and family and their well intentioned advice difficult to cope with
  • You may crave company or seek solitude
  • You may sleep too much or not enough
  • You may have unexamined expectations about how you should cope with grief.
